The open water diver course for 12year olds
upwards,consists of approx 30 hours training spread over evening class
work followed by evening swimming pool sessions to develop the practical
skills needed to dive safely. Dowload info sheet After the academic (at Steyning and pool sessions (at Steyning Leisure Centre) you complete the course with 4 open water dives possibly at Selsey Bill. This helps you to put into practice the skills you have learnt. The waters in Southern England offer fantastic diving opportunities, but if warm blue water diving is for you, and feel diving in the UK is not favoured, then take the referral course. You complete all accademic and pool training here , then complete your open water dives on holiday. We usually run the OW course over 5 weeks, consisting of 5 Monday evenings 7.00-10.20pm. After this, for the full course there are 4 open water dives are taken when we go diving as a club. (also see referral course option) |

| The referral course lets you to finish your course whilst abroad. The first part of the course is the same as the full PADI open water course, the difference is that you take the open water dives at a PADI dive center at your holiday location. This option will guarantee you will dive for life ! You will be able to dive in crystal clear waters and see fabulous marine life. The perfect way to learn and be fixed on diving forever. | Why spend a large portion of your
holiday in class when you can learn most of the skills here in the UK. This
leaves more holiday time actually Diving !!. We can arrange for you to complete your
training at a top PADI center anywhere in the world - Malta, California, Red Sea as
examples. We can arrange a

| Do I Need To Be a Good Swimmer ? | To be able to qualify as a diver you will be asked to complete a swim test of 200 yds or 183 meters and to be able to float for 10 mins with minimal swimming effort. |
| What Do I Do First ? | Contact Sea Urchin Divers and indicate your
interest in joining a course and having a pre course familiarisation session in the pool.
The familiarisation is for those of you who are keen to join a class but want to make sure
its for you! The pre course familiarisation (Discover Scuba) only costs £25.00 and is really good fun. You may have already forgotten your first kiss, but we guarantee you never forget your first breath under water |

| Do I Need To be Fit ? You must complete and send these form to seaurchindivers prior to starting any course or in water training. Medical form
for
dive courses |
You need to be reasonably fit to dive and you will asked to complete a Medical form ( see left), You will be asked to get permission from a doctor if you have any listed medical conditions, these could include High Blood Pressure, Heart Conditions, Taking Medications, Asthma etc. The medical form has a list of conditions that you will be asked to consider. |
